Cornwall Face Gloucestershire
Cornwall’s next Channel League fixture will take place over the cliff top James Briad designed links at Perranporth GC on Sunday 23rd July 2017, when the Duchy team face Gloucestershire.
CGU County Captain David Kneebone has selected his team for match and after the side’s recent defeat away to Glamorgan, which in some part was influenced by non availability, Kneebone has the benefit of being able to select from almost a full strength group of players, missing just Tom Fox and Jared Mortimore. Kneebone is buoyed, however, by the return of Josh Greenaway, Richard Jasper and County Champion Conor Wilson, who will be playing over his home course. Added to the number is the influential figure of England international Harry Hall, back in Cornwall for the summer having completed his second year at University in Las Vegas.
Kneebone says “We need a bounce back reaction to our poor display in Wales a couple weeks ago to get our chances of winning the Channel League back on track and it's great to see that we have nearly full availability of our senior players. And we need to win this home fixture and show the other counties we still mean business this year”
Cornwall have played two away matches to date with a win over Gwent and the defeat in Glamorgan. Gloucestershire have played just the one match which resulted in a 10-5 defeat last weekend away to in form Somerset.
A practice round on Saturday is followed by 5 morning foursomes as the action commences at 9.30am on the Sunday, with 10 afternoon singles later in the day. Any support for the team would be most welcome and much appreciated.
