Devon enjoyed a comfortable win at a rain soaked Tavistock today and in doing so won the Ron Greenaway Shield. The morning foursomes were abandoned without a ball being struck due to persistent rain. The afternoon singles started with little improvement in the weather and Devon were soon in control winning the first four matches. New Cap Carl Burley (Merlin) briefly gave Cornwall hope with a 5/4 win on his debut but only Adam Taylor (Perranporth) winning 5/4 and a battling half by Conor Warne (Carlyon Bay) could add to the points. The win for Devon saw them take the triangular trophy having already halved with Somerset with Cornwall in second place above Somerset. |
