19 April 2009 Trevose capture CTC Crown
Trevose Golf Club are the 2009 CTC Champions after an exciting win over holders Tehidy Park yesterday at St Enodoc. Tehidy had led by a slender ¼ point going into the singles which were being replayed after gale force winds forced abandonment in March. Things looked good for Tehidy when they recorded 3 wins in the first matches to finish but they could not find the elusive point they needed for victory and Trevose who were strong in the lower order powered back for victory................ 23 March 2009 CTC Final - Tehidy Park V Trevose The abandoned singles matches of the CTC Final will be played again on Sunday 19 April at St Enodoc starting at 1.00pm. Tehidy lead the foursomes and 9th man 2½ - 2¼. 15 March 2009 St Enodoc win the CTC Plate St Enodoc won the CTC Plate when they beat Truro 5½ - 3½ in a closely fought final at Newquay 8 March 2009 The CTC Final Tehidy Park v Trevose Sunday 8th March at St Enodoc The Final was suspended duo to winds that gusted up to 50 mph after just a few holes of the afternoon singles. As the weather took a grip putting became impossible and a halt to play was called. After an hour delay and no significant improvement in the conditions play was abandoned for the day.
The morning results will stand and the outstanding 8 singles matches will start again on date to be arranged.
2 March 2009 Tehidy Park Triumph in the Frank Wills Salver
Tehidy Park retained the Frank Wills Slaver when they overcame Newquay 5 – 0 in a 36 hole final at St Enodoc yesterday. Tehidy soon seized the initiative in the game and were up in 3 games at lunch, all square in one and 1 down in the other. Although Newquay(pictured below) battled hard in the afternoon they lost further ground with Tehidy running out comfortable 5 – 0 winners.
Glyn Churcher and Steve Burrows became unlikely hero’s when they won 9 holes in a row to turn a 6 hole deficit into a 3/1 victory as Falmouth lifted the CAW Cornwall Bowl after beating Trethorne (pictured below) at St Enodoc yesterday. Aided by further wins from Crispen Merrit and James Kennedy 2/1 and the decisive 19th hole success of Stephen Thomas and Mark Richards saw Falmouth home for a famous 3 - 2 win.
