Budock Vean taste Handicap League Success.....

Budock Vean are the 2009 Summer Handicap League winners after they beat Treloy 5- 2 in the final today at Merlin.

It was Budock Vean's second success in the competition having won in 2003, Treloy were making their 4th consecutive appearance in the final.

CGU Club Champions at Lanhydrock.

Aaron Stephens from Newquay and Oliver Walsh took the honours at the inaugural CGU Club Champions Tournament.

Aaron shot a level par 70 to finish 1 shot ahead of St Enodoc's Joe Cruse and Rob Macgregor of Perranporth to lift the Depot Cup. Young Ollie Walsh lifted the Petherick Cup after a net 66 saw him win by 7 shots from Chris Mason, Budock Vean 73 net with Looe's Jon Lane a further shot back.

Steve Chapman from St Enodoc (pictured above) is the 2009 Cornish Closed Champion after defeating Billy Downing from Truro in a sudden death playoff at Bowood Park yesterday.

The two players were locked on a 6 under par 36 hole total of 138, 2 shots ahead of Joe Cruse from St Enodoc and Mike Reynard who shared 3rd place on 140.

The sudden death playoff took the players down the par 5 10th hole with Chapmans 2 putt birdie securing victory.

SWCGA Seniors Championship 21/22 July

Day 1 was cancelled after heavy rain and fog prevented any play at Lyme Regis. With the Championship reduced to 18 holes today, Cornwall's seniors finished on a combined score of 406 in 5th place overall. Dorset qualified to go through to the EGU finals with a score of 374.........
