Young Guns win Foster Mitchell Cups

Truro’s Ben Enoch and Billy Downing won the Foster Mitchell Cups at West Cornwall Golf Club with a morning score of 36 points and then held off a determined afternoon round from Ben Westgate and Chris Llewelyn of Trevose and Perranporth to secure top slot on the day.

Playing stableford format (am Foursomes/pm Greensome) the Truro pair’s 74 points score represented a 2 under par total for the 36 holes played giving them a 3 shot winning margin over their nearest challengers. Westgate and Llewelyn finished in second after shooting an afternoon score of 41 points which included 6 birdies for a gross 64.

Handicap and Scratch prizes were given for both morning and afternoon rounds as well as on the day and the excellent weather and course condition ensured that all the 48 competitors had an enjoyable day in the traditional curtain raiser for the County season of competitions.

Cornish Closed Championship News

Sadly the Championship will not be played at Trevose as planned on 26 April. It is now likely that the event will now be played later in the year at alternative venue. The CGU hope to announce further details in the week.
