Cornwall finish 3rd in Channel League........

Cornwall have finished in 3rd place in this years Channel League after the remaining two matches were played last weekend. The final table saw Cornwall tied with Gloucestershire on 4 wins out of a possible 6 and just half a point behind champions Glamorgan.

Cornwall 12 Gloucestershire 3

Cornwall move up to second in the league as they completed their Channel League campaign with an excellent win over Gloucestershire at Perranporth.

Cornwall enjoyed a great morning session winning the foursomes 4-1 and braced themselves for the expected Gloucester fight back in the singles. But it did not materialize and as the points kept coming Cornwall recorded their best win of the season.

Cornwall 5½ Glamorgan 9½

Cornwall's chance of winning the Channel League was ended by defeat in Wales yesterday. Glamorgan took control of the game winning the morning foursomes 3½ - 1½ and then added the first 3 afternoon singles to their tally. Cornwall battled hard with good wins for Billy Downing, Richard Ackland, Joe Cruse and John Piner but it was not enough.

Cornwall finish their Channel League campaign next Sunday at Perranporth against Gloucestershire in a game that could have a huge bearing on where the title ends up.............

Cornwall's unbeaten run in this years Channel League came to an abrupt end after a disappointing result away to Somerset today.

Cornwall 10½ Gwent 4½

Cornwall swept Gwent aside as they maintained their postion at the top of the Channel League with victory at St Enodoc yesterday........

Cornwall 12 Wiltshire 3

Cornwall maintained their position at the top of the Channel League with a resounding win over Wiltshire at Newquay yesterday.

It was an emotional day with Cornwall dedicating their victory to Ben Enoch.Both teams observed a minutes silence before the match with Cornwall playing in all black and Wiltshire wearing black ribbons as a mark of respect from both teams.

Two wins out of two now means that Cornwall now turn their attention to the South West Championships at Broadstone, Dorset in June.

Cornwall next Channel League game will be against Sunday 5 July against Gwent at St Enodoc

Cornwall defeated Devon with an excellent display at Royal North Devon in the opening match of the Channel League campaign yesterday.
