Rules - The Maxam Cup

The Maxam Cup

1. An inter-club competition, the format for which shall be 36 holes foursomes stroke play off scratch.
2. Each team shall consist of 6 players.
3. The maximum individual handicap allowed is 8.
4. The Cup shall be awarded to the team with the two lowest aggregate scores over the first 18 holes, together with the two lowest aggregate scores over the second 18 holes. In the event of a tie, the aggregate of the two remaining scores shall be brought into account and if, at that stage, the total scores are still equal, the competition will be decided by the last 18, 9, 6 or 3 hole total of the third card.
5. The maximum of 16 teams will compete.
If more that 16 teams enter a reserve list will be formed and a team placed on the reserve list will qualify to play the following year. Each year the teams finishing in the lowest positions from the previous year’s competition will be replaced by the number of teams waiting on the reserve list and they will then be placed as a reserve for one year.
