Cornwall Show Determination in Draw!

Cornwall and Somerset lined up at St Enodoc Golf Club on Sunday for the first Channel League match of the season. On a sunny but windswept day, the course played very difficult and proved to be a real challenge for all the players. The morning foursomes resulted in Cornwall trailing 3 points to 2 after the Somerset side, who won the league last year, finished very strong in two of the matches.

The afternoon singles saw the Cornwall side show a real strength of team determination and with some very close fought games the match swung from team to team as the afternoon developed. At the close of play both teams were level and the match was drawn 7½ points each. Alan Poole, the County Captain was very pleased with his team’s performance against a class opposition. “We had a great atmosphere amongst the team and showed a very strong collective team spirit.”
