SWCGA U14 U16 Championship Friday 2nd June 2017 The Kendleshire GC

The 9 man Cornwall team of players to participate in the South West Counties Golf Association U14/U16 Championship next week has been named.

The Championship takes place at The Kendleshire GC on the outskirts of Bristol on Friday 2nd June.

For Cornwall the U16s will be Joe Reynard (Trevose, Captain), George Leigh (Trevose), Lewis Bradley (St Enodoc), Jack Andrew (Truro), Lewis Woolaway (China Fleet) and Ewan Warren (St Austell).

The U14s are Cameron Gurd and Thomas Stephens (Truro) and Zack Cook (Perranporth).

Team Manager Gary Andrew said "We are really looking forward to this event. We have a good close crop of juniors who have started this season well. Now we need to move on, step up and do ourselves justice at the next level."

Golf is firmly at the heart of the Kendleshire experience, and with 27 memorable championship holes spread over nearly 260 acres of the stunning Frome valley, it is no wonder.

The Hollows & Ruffet Courses were opened in 1997 to much critical acclaim. Designed by Adrian Stiff they both feature plenty of water and these holes were voted in the top 10 new British courses in 1998 by Golf World. The Peter McEvoy-designed Badminton Course was opened in 2001, built to complement its sister courses whilst adding an extra degree of challenge with its undulating greens.

The club has previously hosted the Reid Trophy as well as a number of EuroPro and Jamega Tour events.
