MacGregor Finishes Well in West of England

West of England Strokeplay 21st - 23rd April 2017 Saunton GC

Cornwall's Rob MacGregor (Tehidy Park) shot a final round level par 71 to finish tied 6th on a four round total of 289 in the prestigious West of England Strokeplay Championship staged over three days at Saunton GC, Devon.

Having opened with a 74 which left him in 40th spot in the 120 man field MacGregor moved upwards in round 2 with a 71. On the final day which comprised 36 holes and saw the field reduced to the top 40 and ties, Rob returned a 73 and then the 71.

The event was won by Owen Edwards (The Kendleshire) on a 3 under par total of 281.

Cornwall's only other representative in the event, Jared Mortimore (Truro), narrowly missed the cut by just one shot after rounds of 74 and 76.

MacGregor will next defend the Cornish Closed Championship when it takes place at Trethorne GC on Sunday 7th May 2017, having won the event for the past 2 years.
