Bradley Barnes is new Junior Captain

West Cornwall GC member Bradley Barnes last night became Junior County Captain as his predecessor Jared Mortimore (Truro) stepped down from the role after a successful 12 month period. The pair are pictured above (Barnes on the right) after the conclusion of the 2016 Annual General Meeting of the Cornwall Golf Union's Junior Section. 

Juniors President Alan Lund welcomed those present including CGU President Glyn Rowett, Past President Phil Linaker, Junior Organisers, representatives and other interested parties from 9 clubs.He thanked Newquay GC for their hospitality and for continuing to make the club premises available to the section for this meeting.

Lund presented his report to the meeting with further reports presented by U18 (Andy Mortimore), U16 (Gary Andrew), U14 (Simon Wood) and U12 (Dave Watson)Team Managers as well as Matt Tucknott, Director of Junior Coaching.

Retiring Junior Captain Mortimore addressed the meeting and highlighted a number of events and winners from across the past season before wishing his successor Barnes well. Alan Lund presented Jared with a memento in respect of his time in the role.

Barnes too spoke to the audience saying what an honour it was for him to become Junior Captain and how he looked forward to representing the county to the best of his ability.

An election took place for three vacant spots on the CGU Junior Committee with Cath Andrew, Dave Watson joining the committee and Simon Wood being returned.
