The Open Championship Final Qualifying Tuesday 28th June 2016 Woburn GC

Harry Hall (West Cornwall and pictured above recently) will head to Woburn on Tuesday as he continues his bid to secure a place in this year's Open Championship being staged at Royal Troon next month.

Following success in regional qualifying Hall will join 287 other contenders at one of four venues with just 12 spaces in the Open available. That remains a tall order when a number of experienced full Tour professionals will also be in the fields at Gailes Links, Hillside, Royal Cinque Ports and Woburn.

Amongst those experienced players are former European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie  who will compete for a spot at Gailes Links.  Each golfer will play two rounds of 18 holes with the top 12 golfers earning a place at Royal Troon.

Former Ryder Cup player Edoardo Molinari (Italy) will try to gain his place at Royal Cinque Ports and will be joined in Kent by four-time winner on the European Tour Gregory Bourdy (France).

In what has been a busy schedule since returning from Ls Vegas, Hall played this week in the final of the prestigious Brabazon Trophy hosted by England Golf at The London GC. Hall started well with a 1 under par 71 and was -4 for the tournament in his second round when the weather intervened forcing a suspension of play. On resumption Hall was unable to keep up on that god start and fell away somewhat with a second round 73 which left him in a creditable position but in reality out of contention. A third round 74 followed by a final round of level par saw him finish in a tie for 26th place on a 2 over total of 290. The winner was England's Jamie Bower (Meltham) on a 12 under par total of 276.
