County Seniors Debuts for Phillips and Cowan

Thursday 9th July 2015

Seniors Channel League Cornwall v Somerset Thursday 23rd July 2015 Bowood Park GC

Cornwall Golf Union County Seniors Captain Mike Marshall has handed Seniors team debuts to two well known figures in Cornish golf when the county take on Somerset in their next Channel League match at Bowood Park in a fortnight's time.

Three time former County Champion and County Captain Charlie Phillips (Newquay), pictured above left, has this year joined the senior ranks and comes into the undefeated team as it seeks its third victory on the bounce.  With a long and successful record of representing the county at men's level Phillips will bring a wealth of matchplay experience to the side.

Also selected having made it to the ripe old age is Trevose Assistant Manager and long time CGU Executive Committee member David Cowan, pictured above right. David too has represented the county at Men's level and has played a long term active role in the Cornwall Golf Union.

The pair will join other recent senior recruit, Andy Rowe (Looe) in a strong team.

Prior to that match at Bowood the Seniors will be participating in the SWCGA seniors Championship at Parkstone, Dorset over two days next week. Further information on the team for this event can be found on the Seniors page.
