Clahane is SWCGA President

Thursday 9th July 2015

At the conclusion of last month's South Western Counties Golf Association week at Bristol & Clifton GC Cornwall's Paul Clahane was installed as SWCGA President for the coming 12 months.

Clahane, a former Cornwall Golf Union County Captain (2008-2010) and County President (2004-2006), will oversee the Associations events for the next year culminating in South West Week 2016 taking place at St Enodoc Golf Club in early June.

Trevose member Clahane has long been associated with golf in Cornwall and expressed his delight at being able to represent both county and the SW region. "I am really looking forward to putting something back into a game that has given me so much. Last year's victory by Cornwall in the English County Finals following qualification by winning the regional event on the auld enemy's territory at Royal North Devon, the oldest links in England, has really rejuvenated the quest for success at county level. This was our first win in 113 years and has sown the seed for national honours throughout the South West. I hope that during my time in office we will see other successes for our region"

At the same time former Cornwall County Captain Steve Rickard was appointed SWCGA Captain for the next 12 months.
