Reynard Moves to Final Qualifying Stage
Friday 30th January 2015
European Seniors Tour Q-School Portugal 29th and 30th January 2015
Cornwall's Mike Reynard has today successfully negotiated the first stage of qualifying for a place on the European Seniors Tour (EST)after two good rounds in Portugal as some 170 hopefuls set out seeking qualification.
Only last week Reynard teed it up for the first time as a professional and finished tied 1st with three others in the independently managed Seniors Tour Circuit over the prestigious Monte Rei course in Portugal with rounds of 73 and 75.
Remaining in Portugal and playing at the Nick Price designed Gramacho course, one of three venues used for the EST first stage, and looking for one of just 56 spots available, Mike returned a first round two over par score. Starting on the 10th tee he had two birdies in the first four holes to top the early leaderboard. But three bogies in four further holes saw him finish his front 9 at one over. One birdie and two bogies on the back meant a 2 over par total of 74 and a tied 8th finish to day one.
In today's second round Reynard was one of only four players to shoot par or better and his level par 72 saw him move up three places into a tie for 5th place. A mixed bag of four bogies and two birdies on the front 9 was eclipsed by two birdies and the remainder pars on his back 9 as he retrieved a level par round.
The qualifying process takes only a short break now as Final Qualifying takes place at the Pestana Vale da Pinta from Monday February 2 to Thursday February 5. The leading six players from final qualifying will receive full cards for the 2015 season, with those finishing in positions seven to 14 receiving conditional cards.
Good Luck Mike!
