Winter Golf Series Rd 2 Sunday 30th November 2014 West Cornwall GC

Truro's Jake Finn and Perranporth's Conor Wilson looking pretty pleased with themselves at West Cornwall GC yesterday.

The second round of the 2014/15 Winter Golf Series took place yesterday at West Cornwall Golf Club with an entry of 27 competitors playing on a golf course prepared in excellent condition by Keith Kemp and his staff on a dry and calm day.

Perranporth’s Cornwall County Team member Conor Wilson (pictured above right) continued his yearlong good form in producing a great round of 40 points to win the scratch event by 1 shot from fellow team member, Tehidy Park’s Cornwall Player of the Year, Robert MacGregor. Truro junior Jake Finn took third spot on 38 points.

In the handicap element to the event, Finn (above left) returned an exceptional 43 points to win by four shot from Trevose’s 12 year old George Leigh who recorded 39 points in continuing to demonstrate his young talent. Leigh beat Rob Cook (Bowood Park) into third place on count back.

In the overall WGS Order of Merit 2014-15, Mike Reynard (Trevose) has maintained his lead in the WGS Order of Merit with a total of 34 points.  MacGregor lies in second place on 29.5 points with Chris Brown (Trevose) in third place on 29 points.

The top 4 scores out of the 6 events count towards the final Winter Golf Series Order of Merit.

The Winter Golf Series would like to thank West Cornwall Golf Club and Club Secretary, Gareth Evans for hosting the event, and also all the Green staff on producing a golf course in such good condition.
