Fuller's London Pride Gold Medal County Qualifier Sunday 21st September 2014 St Austell GC

The Cornwall Golf Union County qualifier for the Fuller's London Pride Gold Medal took place at St Austell yesterday.

Making it to the Fuller's London Pride Gold Medal Final is one of the ultimate prizes for club handicap golfers. It offers the chance to play two rounds on one of the UK's finest golf courses with all expenses paid, including meals and hotel accommodation. Next year's final takes place at Frilford Heath GC in August.

The two qualifiers from Cornwall who will take part in next year's final were determined at a very sunny and warm St Austell. In the 0-12 handicap category Paul Martin (Falmouth GC) returned an excellent gross 73 for a nett 67 and booked his place at the finals in doing so. Martins very steady round contained 12 gross pars and one birdie as he comfortably claimed the qualifying spot by 6 shots from Tom Bradley (Bowood Park 83-11=72) and Richard Allen (Tehidy Park 81-9=72)

It was a tighter affair in the 13 and above handicap bracket where the honours went to Andrew Scully (West Cornwall GC) with 90 - 16 for a nett 74, just pipping David Horne (Tehidy Park 87-13=74) on countback.
