The Amateur Championship is coming to Saunton

In a summer which has already seen the English Women's Amateur Championship take place at st Enodoc the South West is about to host another prestigious event, this time for the men and  in which there will again be Duchy competitors. Cornwall has four players entered in The Men's Amateur Championship, supported by Abacus, and which takes place at Saunton Golf Club from 28 July -2 August 2014.

Perranporth's Conor Wilson and county team mate Adam Curtis (Bude & North Cornwall) will play in the championship as will St Enodoc's Josh Walsh and Harry Hall (West Cornwall).

The event will feature many of the country’s finest players and play will be of the highest quality with competition intense as they contest one of the key national titles.

Stage One: Stroke Play. Two rounds of 18 holes stroke play over two days (Monday and Tuesday), one round on each of two courses (Saunton West and Saunton East).

Stage Two: Match Play.  The players with the 64 lowest scores after the stroke play will compete in the match play stages. In the case of ties for 64th place, stroke play countback will apply to the round played on the East course. The players will be seeded according to their stroke play finishing place. All matchplay will take place on the East course.
