Junior Coaching Programme 2014-15
Wednesday 16th July 2014
2013/14 was the first year the Cornwall Golf Union, Cornwall Ladies Golf Association and the Cornwall Golf Partnership joined forces to create a new structure for junior coaching within the county. The Cornwall Junior Coaching programme has proved to be a great success and the 2014/15 content will continue to improve and provide a first class pathway for talented junior golfers in Cornwall.
The 2014/15 Cornwall Junior Coaching will be again headed up by Cornwall's Director of Junior Coaching and West Cornwall's PGA Professional Matthew Tucknott. This ensures the programme will provide a clear pathway for juniors to potentially progress from the Future's Academy all the way through to the Under 18's elite coaching.
For 2014-15 we have planned 8 monthly coaching sessions starting in October and finishing in May with each session lasting approximately 4 hours. The cost for the entire season of coaching will be £70 per junior.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 31st August 2014. Juniors will be selected on a range of criteria including how many lessons they have, how often they practice, how many junior competitions they have participated in and how they have performed in them both home and away over the last 6 months, how they perform in any upcoming competitions during the summer holidays and any changes to their handicaps over the past 12 months.
There are a number of junior opens within Cornwall during the summer holidays and a list of them link - http://www.cornwallgolfunion.org.uk/junior_diary_2014.
There will be at least 60 places for boys and 30 places for girls so if you know any talented and dedicated junior golfers that would benefit from county junior coaching please fill in the application form, which can be accessed here.
