| Tehidy Park added
the Maxam Cup to their haul of trophies this year winning the foursomes
stroke play championship at St Enodoc yesterday.
Their team consisting of John Piner, Ian Veale, Richard Simmons, Peter Simmons, Colin George and Andrew Clotworthy eased to a comfortable victory recording a winning total of 286, 12 shots of Truro Golf Club in 2nd place.
Calm sunny conditions greeted the players with the course looking great and with immaculate greens. But a combination of Back Tees, punishing rough and tough pin positions made scoring hard.
With the best 2 out of 3 foursomes scores to count in morning and afternoon rounds Tehidy held a lead of 5 shots after the 1st round over defending champions Trevose thanks to a 71 by Ian Veale and John Piner and a 73 from Peter and Richard Simmons.
In the afternoon Tehidy extended their lead with an excellent 70 from the Simmons brothers backed up with a 72 from Colin George and Andrew Clotworthy.
