The Cornwall Amateur Golf Championship Conditions.
An entrant for the Cornwall Amateur Golf Championship must be:
a) Male
b) A Member of a Club affiliated to a National Golf Union.
AND
1) has been born in the County of Cornwall, OR
2) has resided in the County for one year prior to the commencement of the Championship. (Residence outside the County at a College, University, or other place of learning or training during normal term times shall not be an interruption of such one year’s residence providing his bona fide home is in the County), OR
3) having qualified under sub-paragraph 2) above has ceased to reside in the County of Cornwall but has not taken any steps to qualify for any other County, OR
4) although not resident in the County of Cornwall is a full member of a Club affiliated to the Cornwall Golf Union with such Club being his ‘home’ club for handicap purposes.
c) No Member is eligible who has competed in any other County Championship during the previous twelve months.
The Championship will comprise two sections. The first, qualifying section will take place on Wednesday of County Week and will be over 36 holes, stroke play, with the field limited to 72 players. If the entry exceeded this number at the Closing date then the players with the highest playing handicap would be balloted out and placed on a reserve list. A player entering the championship must be available to play in the match play stages on Thursday to Saturday.
The 32 lowest scores returned from the qualifying round would qualify to proceed to the match play stages. Ties for the last qualifying place will be decided by a play-off.
If for any reason a qualifier cannot play in the match play stage a bye will be placed in the draw.
The top eight qualifiers should be seeded in the match play draw.
The second stage is match play over 18 holes leading to the Final which will be played over 36 holes.
Maximum handicap allowed is 7.
