Cornish Closed

Ben Westgate from Perranporth Golf Club is the new Cornish Closed Champion.

The event which is open to Cornish Professionals and Amateurs was replayed at Newquay on Sunday after the first attempt to play it in March was abandoned due to rain.

It was a fine performance by Westgate who battled against near gale force winds in the afternoon to add a 73 to his morning 70 for a 143 total finishing 1 shot ahead of Jon Coleman from West Cornwall, who’s superb second round of 70 nearly took him to victory.
