CORNISH CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIP

Leading Scores

Richard Jasper from Launceston Golf Club is the 2007 Cornish Closed Champion.

The event which is open to Cornish Professionals and Amateurs attracted one of the strongest fields seen at a County event in recent years over a Trevose course that was in exceptional condition.

The morning scores saw Matt Floyd from Truro leading with a fine 68 with Trevose Professional Gary Lenaghan in second with a 69. Richard Jasper and Rhys Enoch were well place recording 70.

The afternoon saw both Floyd and Lenaghan fall back but Welsh International Rhys Enoch added another score of 70 to set a clubhouse target of 140. Jasper was the only player left out on the course who could beat the score and his two putt par on the 18th for a round of 69 saw him win by one shot.

Consolation for Enoch was to become the Cornwall U21 Champion beating last year’s winner Tom Murtagh into second.

The lowest round of the day was a great 67 from Falmouth Professional Nick Rogers in the afternoon.
